Meet Piper Yule: 14-Year-Old Trick Rider Shares Her Story: Family, Horses, and Reality TV

This 14-year-old trick and Roman rider invites you to experience the thrill of the rodeo and the heart of ranch life in her new reality series.

Piper Yule was destined for the screen. Years ago, she was set to appear on the beloved Canadian series Heartland, showcasing her impressive rodeo skills. But fate, as it often does, had other plans. A broken arm, a result of her daredevil pursuits, forced her to cancel her appearance. Little did she know, this was just a minor detour on her path to stardom.

Now, at 14, Piper is finally getting her moment in the spotlight with her own reality series, Piper Yule - A Cowgirl Original. Airing on The Cowboy Network, the show offers viewers a captivating glimpse into Piper's extraordinary life, blending the charm of rural Alberta with the thrill of competitive rodeo.

Echoes of Heartland

Fans of Heartland will find themselves drawn to Piper's story. Much like the fictional characters in the long-running series, Piper calls a sprawling, fifth-generation cattle ranch home, nestled between the towns of Brooks and Hanna in Alberta. Her life is a captivating blend of traditional ranch life and the electrifying world of professional rodeo.

A Rodeo Prodigy

Piper's journey in rodeo began at the tender age of four when she first hopped on a horse to try trick riding. By six or seven, she was already mastering the art of Roman riding, standing atop two galloping horses. Her talent and dedication quickly propelled her through the ranks, establishing her as a formidable competitor on the North American rodeo circuit.

Behind the Scenes with Piper

The cameras followed Piper throughout 2023, capturing her whirlwind life on the rodeo circuit. From the heart-stopping moments of competition to the camaraderie shared with fellow riders, the series offers an intimate look at the dedication and passion that fuel Piper's success. Piper herself wanted the series to offer a genuine perspective on her life, not just as a rodeo performer, but also as a young woman deeply connected to her family and their ranch. She wanted viewers to understand where she came from and what shaped her into the talented individual she is today.

A Family Steeped in Rodeo Tradition

Piper's passion for rodeo is deeply rooted in her family's heritage. Her father, a former saddle bronc rider, instilled in her a love for the sport, while numerous uncles and cousins contribute to the rodeo world as stock contractors. However, Piper is the first in her family to pursue trick and Roman riding, carving her own path in a sport steeped in tradition. Her family, initially unfamiliar with her chosen disciplines, have been unwavering in their support.

Balancing Rodeo Life and School

Given the demands of her rodeo career, Piper is homeschooled for most of the year. However, she's not alone on her journey. Her close-knit circle of friends, many of whom she sees at rodeo events, share her passion and are eagerly awaiting their cameos in the series. One episode even features a special appearance by Piper’s best friend.

Looking Ahead

While Piper’s rodeo career is just taking off, she knows one thing for certain: ranch life will always be a part of her. "It's so deep in my blood," she confesses, adding with a chuckle, "I think I'd be kicked out of the family if I didn't, to be honest."
