Ash and Pikachu say goodbye to the Pokemon series

The upcoming season of the Pokemon TV series will be the last season starring Pokemon trainer Ash and his companion, the pocket monster Pikachu.

The next season of Pokemon consists of eleven episodes and will start on January 13 in Japan. A trailer for the new season reveals the big news that Ash and Pikachu are leaving the series, and we also get a quick look at their replacements. It looks like Ash will be replaced by the two Pokemon trainers Liko and Roy that you can see above.

The same picture also shows the pocket monsters Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly which I assume will replace Pikachu. It's about relatively new "mons" that were introduced in the Pokémon games Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet which were released last month.

The Pokémon TV series is based on the game of the same name. The TV series began airing on Japanese television in 1997 and next year's season will be the series' 26th season. When we can see the first season with Liko and Roy, there is so far no information. Presumably, it will happen sometime in 2024.
